On Monday 24/06/2024, Smart Grid – SCADA laboratories were inaugurated, which the APUA bore their entire value through funding from the African Development Bank, within the framework of the project to develop distinguished training centers affiliated with the African Network of Centers of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE).
The ANCEE of the APUA expressed its readiness to finance a project to develop its training centers, and the Electricity Holding Company expressed its desire to establish the Smart Grid – SCADA laboratories at the Mokattam Training Center of the South Cairo Electricity Distribution Company.
The inauguration was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Shaker Al-Marqabi, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the leaders of the Egyptian electricity sector, Engineer/ Abel Didier TELLA, Director General of the APUA, and a high-level delegation from the leaders of the APUA.
The cooperation between the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and the ANCEE of the APUA began in the field of training and capacity building nearly 8 years ago.
The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company owns 22 training centers distributed throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt. During 2017, two training centers, namely the Water Stations Company Training Center in Aswan and the Mokattam Training Center for Distribution Networks, were accredited as centers of excellency by the ANCEE of the APUA among the top 10 centers of excellency at the level of the African continent.
The policies of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company include paying attention to training the company’s employees within the limits of 25% of the total number of employees in the company annually in all training centers. Hence, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company became distinguished in the field of internal training of employees in equipped training centers and by the availability of distinguished human expertise, which qualified the company to cooperate in the field of capacity building for Arab and African cadres through cooperation with international bodies and institutions. During the previous years, about 9,300 trainees from more than 50 Arab and African countries were trained. The training also includes practical on-the-job training at the sites, in addition to field visits to local manufacturing companies to learn about the latest technology.
Through cooperation with the ANCEE and during the previous years since 17/08/2017, 47 training courses and workshops were launched for 393 trainees from African cadres, whether by attending at the training centers of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company or by sending experts to African countries or remotely. The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company looks forward to more future cooperation to train African cadres on the enormous training capabilities available at the Holding Company and its subsidiaries.
